Procedures
There are two primary types of procedures that we perform at Fort Wayne Endoscopy Center:
Upper GI Endoscopy
An Upper GI endoscopy (sometimes called an EGD) is a visual examination of your upper intestinal tract. We utilize a lighted, flexible video endoscope that visualizes the gastrointestinal tract. This procedure assists us in diagnosing a variety of conditions including:
- Ulcers
- Tumors
- Difficulty swallowing
- Upper abdominal pain
- Intestinal bleeding
- Chronic heartburn
- Gastritis
- Anemia
- Barrett’s esophagus
We are also able to perform biopsies and dilations.
Colonoscopy
A colonoscopy is a visual examination of your large intestine (or colon) using a lighted, flexible video endoscope. By directly viewing the inside of your colon we are able to identify and diagnose a variety of conditions including:
- Colon cancer
- Polyps
- Colitis
- Diverticular disease
- Bleeding lesions
- Abdominal pain
- Chronic diarrhea or constipation
- Anemia
We are also able to perform biopsies and polypectomy.
